This February, Adeara and More Than a Fad are coming together to participate in the Coldest Night of the Year – a nationwide movement to raise awareness and funds for people facing hurt, hunger, and homelessness. Together, we’re taking steps to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable women and their families in Edmonton, and we need you to join us!

Why Walk With Us?

The Coldest Night of the Year is more than just a walk – it’s a chance to step into the shoes of those who face the harsh realities of winter without the comfort and stability of a safe home. For many, this is their everyday life. But through organizations like Adeara, there is hope!

Adeara is an accredited addiction recovery centre for women and their children right here in Edmonton. Our long-term, faith-based program guides women through each stage of their healing journey—from addiction to recovery, and ultimately reintegrating into healthy community.

By walking with us on February 22, 2025, you’re not only raising critical funds for Adeara’s programming but also standing in solidarity with the women who are courageously rebuilding their lives.

Every purchase at More Than a Fad directly supports Adeara, and now we’re inviting our thrifting community to show their support in a new way: by going for a walk and raising awareness together!

The Impact of Your Support

Funds raised through the Coldest Night of the Year will go directly towards Adeara’s life-changing programs, providing safe housing, trauma-informed care, and addiction recovery services for women and their children. Every step you take and every dollar you raise brings hope to those who need it most.

Here’s what your support will do:

  • Provide a safe and secure apartment suite for women and their children
  • Offer counseling to help women heal from trauma and address underlying causes of addiction
  • Empower and equip women with the tools they need to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into their communities

How To Get Involved

  1. Register to Walk: Visit our Coldest Night of the Year’s website and sign up to walk 2 km or 5 km with our More Than a Fad team or gather 5-7 friends and create a team of your own!
  2. Fundraise: Rally your friends, family, and coworkers to donate to this important cause. If eight people donate $20 to your walk, you could raise $160 in no time. Plus, every adult who raises $150 and every youth $75, will receive a limited edition CNOY toque!
  3. Donate: Can’t join us for the walk on February 22? You can still make a difference by helping us reach our $60,000 goal for Adeara! We’ve made it simple—customers can now donate directly at the till. Whether it’s $2, $5, or any amount you choose, 100% of your donation goes directly to Adeara’s addiction recovery programs. Plus, you’ll get to add your name to a fun CNOY snowflake to show your support!

Why Now?

The need for Adeara’s services has never been greater. As the cold months settle in, vulnerable women and families in our community face additional challenges. Your participation in the Coldest Night of the Year sends a powerful message: we see you, we support you, and we are walking beside you.

Together, We Can Make a Difference

This is more than a fundraiser – it’s a movement. Because alone, addiction can feel like an insurmountable crisis, but together we can build hope for the hopeless. Whether you walk 2 km or 5 km with us on February 22, 2025, by supporting Adeara you are empowering and equipping women to take difficult, courageous steps that foster change and freedom from the cycle of addiction.

Let’s come together to make this winter a little warmer for those in need. Register today, and let’s walk together for hope, healing and restoration.
